About Us
Mt. Pleasant High School Hockey originated in 2007, primarily from the success of the local recreational hockey league, better known as AHAMP, which began in 1987. Throughout the years, the team has seen its fair share of success, as well as challenges. With an overall winning record of 53%, the Oilers have always competed at a high level and will continue to build on the great hockey culture that we all know and love.
After careful evaluation and consideration, Mt. Pleasant Oiler Hockey has taken a major step this season and has transitioned to a cooperative (co-op) hockey model and will now compete as the “Mt. Pleasant Area Hockey” (MPAH) team. This opportunity was formed out of necessity to protect the longevity of Mt. Pleasant High School hockey and to provide an opportunity for student athletes in the greater central Michigan area. High schools represented on the newly formed team include; Alma, Beal City, Clare, Ithaca, Mt. Pleasant, Sacred Heart Academy, and Shepherd. MPAH is excited to grow the program and continue the great hockey tradition in our area!
MPAH team will compete in the Saginaw Valley Conference. When playoffs begin, they will compete in the State Division 1 group, along with several other co-op teams throughout the state. All home games will be played on Wednesday, Friday and/or Saturday nights at the newly named Martin Ice Arena, formally known as the Isabella Community Events (I.C.E.) Arena.
This year’s team is led by Head Coach, Jeff Pinwar. Jeff has been with the program for the last three seasons and brings a multitude of experience and knowledge to the team. He will be supported by Assistant Coaches, Christian Elmore-Turner and Hunter Carrick.
Any questions regarding the program, please contact Jeff Pinwar, at jpinwar9814@gmail.com or 989-430-9814.

About the Program
Mount Pleasant Oiler Hockey is a member of the Saginaw Valley League, the high school conference with the longest tenure in the state of Michigan. The program competes in Division 3 at the state level, though many of their regular season opponents range across Divisions 1 and 2. All home games are played at the Isabella County Events Arena--a small barn in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, that when packed, can provide a great atmosphere.
The program began in 2008 with Paul Visich as the inaugural season's coach. After three seasons at the helm, Visich stepped down, allowing Alex Weisenburger to take over the reigns for his two year tenure. In just its second season of existence (2009-10), the team boasted its first winning season, with 15 wins. Since that time, the program has continued to build steam and made a nice playoff run in the 2012-13 season, winning its first two playoff games until the run was stalled in the Regional Finals.
Mount Pleasant Hockey is proud of its commitment to the community both on and off the ice. Players and coaches participate in several mentoring and coaching programs for the youth in Mid-Michigan. Their partnership with the Amateur Hockey Association of Mount Pleasant (AHAMP) has continued to build. As the program moves forward, it is becoming a fixture in AHAMP's Learn to Play Hockey program and its Annual Bootcamp over the summer.
As the program continues to grow, its focus centers on providing a consistent and accountable atmosphere in order to develop players and young men.
Come watch the Oilers take the ice to see some exciting hockey!

History
It seems like a given now, but Oiler Hockey has not always been a fixture for Mount Pleasant High School Athletics. Wednesday and Friday nights have not always showcased a raucous crowd of Oiler faithful at the Isabella County Events Arena.
An Oiler Hockey program was long dreamed of by many. However, it was only a dream until Bob Weisenburger and Tim Coscarelly entered the scene. Through their hard work and dedication to both the game of hockey and the budding program, they built a program from nothing. Both men stay on as overseers of the program, with Coscarelly graduating his son Nick as an alumni of Oiler Hockey in 2013 and Weisenburger seeing his son Alex coach the program from 2011-2013 and now watching his grandson Owen lace up the skates for the Oilers in its 13th season. It is clear the program would not exist at all or in its current strong state without the stewardship of both these men.
In its 14th season, the program continues to grow. With moderate success in the past, it will set out this season to build upon the great foundation that precedes it. Check the schedule, and we hope to see you at the games!
